Iowa DOT’s Online Driver’s License Renewal Hits the Iowa State Fair Posted on: August 07, 2013 ANKENY, Iowa – Aug. 7, 2013 – Iowans may be used to spending a day at the Iowa State Fair sampling delicious food on a stick, listening to their favorite bands or winning ribbons, but this year fairgoers can renew their driver’s license.
Your license expires on the expiration date printed on the license; however, the license is valid for driving for an additional 60 days after the expiration date. (This 60-day grace period does not apply to licenses that are issued to foreign nationals.)
You can always renew your license in person at one of 100 Iowa issuance sites, but you must renew in person if you are not eligible to renew online.

Note that the extension mustn’t exceed six months.
